Author Guidelines
Original materials in Russian, English, French, German or Chinese, which do not violate the copyrights of third parties and correspond to the level and profile of the journal, are accepted for publication. The manuscript should comply with the scientific principles and themes of the journal, be interesting to a wide range of international scientific community.
1. General requirements
1.1. Manuscript and profile of the author(s) should be submitted to the editorial office electronically via e-mail: ic@guu.ru
1.2. The name of the file should contain the name of all authors and the word "article". The questionnaire for each author is submitted in a separate file, the name of the questionnaire file should contain the author's name and the word "questionnaire". In the text of the e-mail you need to make a note indicating that the article is sent to the journal "Digital Sociology".
1.3. Recommended volume of the article text (excluding abstract, keywords, bibliography): not less than 3.000 words, and the total volume of the planned publication (including abstract, keywords, bibliography) should not exceed 10.000 words.
1.4. Articles of descriptive nature, abstracts from conferences are not accepted.
1.5. Publications for authors are free of charge. There is no fee for publications.
1.6. The author agrees to reproduce the article free of charge on the Internet. Article available under a Creative Commons license "Attribution" ("Attribution") 4.0. worldwide, according to which it is possible unlimited distribution and reproduction of these articles in any media, provided that the author and reference to the original publication of the article in this journal in accordance with the rules of scientific citation.
1.7. The decision to publish an article is made by the editorial board. Term of decision: up to 6 weeks from the date of receipt of the manuscript.
1.8. The authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the information contained in the articles, and for the quality of the translation of the text. At a reprint of materials the reference to the journal is required.
2. Requirements to preparation of article
2.1 When sending materials for publication, they should be attached:
- The text of the article in electronic form. The name of the article file should contain the name of all authors and the word "article".
- Figures in electronic form (in separate files, the name of which contains the word "figure" or "figures and figure number"). Photos are not accepted.
- List of illustrations (figures). It is necessary to specify the total number of pages, tables, and illustrations.
- Application form of the author (s) (information about the authors in Russian and English: full name; place of work; contact information: e-mail address and mobile phone number for communication; e-mail address for publication in the journal). The questionnaire for each author is submitted in a separate file, the name of the questionnaire file should contain the author's name and the word "questionnaire".
- In e-mail correspondence with the editorial office it is essential to indicate the surname, name, patronymic and subject in the letter without abbreviations.
2.2. The electronic version of the article is created in Microsoft Word and saved with the extension .rtf,.docx or .doc. Editing options:
- page format-A4 (book);
- margins-2 cm on all sides;
- indent-1.25 cm;
- width alignment;
- line spacing –single (single line);
- headset-Times New Roman 11 pt or Arial 10 pt;
- all text should be black and typed with one headset and a pin.
- do not number pages;
- use subscript references allowed;
- do not make extra spaces between words in the text;
- do not insert a page and/or ruler break between parts of the text;
- do not insert in the main text italics, underline, and bold.
2.3. Structural elements of the article:
- The index of the universal decimal classification (UDC), http://teacode.com/online/udc/
- Title (title of the article) in Russian and English, typed in capital letters (Caps Lock).
- Surnames and initials of authors in Russian and English.
- Abstract in Russian (English, French, German, Chinese are allowed) and English.
- Keywords in Russian (other) and English.
- Main text in Russian (English, French, German, Chinese are allowed).
- Formulas and tables
- Figures.
- Bibliography (list of references) in Russian (other) and English.
- References - translation of sources into English and their transliteration.
- Figure and table captions.
2.4. Article title
2.4.1. The title is given in Russian (other) and English lowercase letters (Caps Lock). It should be concise and reflect the essence of the article, should not contain abbreviations, abbreviations or begin with the words "to the question of..." or
"O (About)..."
2.4.2. The full names of the authors are given. They should be in the original language of the article, as well as in the transliteration system " BSI " (British Standart), http://translit-online.ru/
If the author already has publications in foreign editions, the transliteration of their initials should be the same as used in previous publications. If there are several authors, the surnames are given in the sequence desirable for authors.
2.5. Abstract (Abstract)
2.5.1. Abstract reflects the subject and purpose of the article, the methodology, the main results of the study, the scope of their application, conclusions. Abstract is submitted in the original language (Russian, French, German or Chinese) and necessarily in English. Translation of the abstract into English from another language must fully comply with the original. The abstract should not exaggerate or contain material that is not in the main part of the publication. The abstract should contain only text. Avoid unnecessary introductory phrases (e.g., "the author of the article considers...", "article", etc.), repetitions, abbreviations, acronyms, and references. Abstract length: from 200 to 300 words.
2.6. Keywords (Keywords)
2.6.1. Include up to 6-10 keywords or phrases that describe your work for indexing and searching databases. The more different the keywords, the more likely it is that your article will be found and cited.
2.6.2. Keywords are presented in Russian (French, German, Chinese) and English.
3. Main text of the article
3.1. The main part of the article should be based on the standards accepted in the international community: introduction (statement of the problem on the current theme, goals and objectives, a clear description of the structure of the article), the main part (review of relevant scientific sources, description of the methodology, research results and their analysis, conclusion (conclusions, directions of further research).
3.2. The presence of subtitles is obligatory. Example:
- Introduction (Introduction);
- Literature review (Literature review);
- Theory and methods (Theory and methods);
- Analysis of results, Main results (Results and discussion);
- Conclusion / Conclusions (Conclusion);
- Can be gratitudes (Acknowledgements).
3.3. The text must contain references to figures and tables.
3.4. The numbering of formulas, figures and tables in the article should be through. If the table or figure is singular, they are not numbered.
3.5. Reference to the formula is made in the form of a number enclosed in parentheses: (3).
3.6. Bibliographic references are given in square brackets, where the author's name and year of publication are indicated.
3.7. Quotation marks are used when quoting «...» for Russian text and "..." for text in another language.
3.8. It is not allowed to place the text in the editors for mathematical formulas (Math type).
4. References
4.1. Citation and reference to source material is an important aspect of academic writing. The list of references is a tool of promotion in the international base of scientific citation and indicator of scientific outlook of the author. Accurate and consistent abstracting is an important part of ensuring a clear distinction between your words and the words and ideas of other authors in your work.
4.2. References should contain bibliographic information about all publications mentioned in the article and should not contain references to works that are not mentioned in the text.
4.3. In the original scientific article it is desirable to mention at least 10 sources related to the analyzed problems. Self-citation of the author in the amount of 15% of the sources in the list of references is allowed.
4.4. All reproduced in the text of the laws, government programmes, quantitative data must be linked to the source. References to anonymous or unpublished documents (orders, laws, regulations, archives) should be kept to a minimum.
4.6. The bibliographic list is drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the"Harvard style". This is a nominal-temporary system (name-date system), in which after the quoted phrase or reference to the opinion of another author in parentheses are the initials and surname of the author of the cited work (or initials and surnames of several authors) and comma-separated year of its publication, and in the bibliography sources are given in alphabetical order. In the case of direct citation (in quotation marks), the page numbers of the source must be specified.
4.7. All sources from the bibliographic list are duplicated in" References " in English and in transliteration.
4.8. In the bibliographic list references are given in alphabetical order: first Russian – language sources, then - foreign. If references are made to more than one work by the same author, the works must be ordered by date, starting from the earliest.
4.9. Links to legislation, regulatory documents, statistical data, and to websites, you need to specify in under pages references (footnotes). References to Russian laws are recommended to be made using the system "Consultant-Plus" (in the "help" section), be sure to specify the version of the law that you used.
4.10. In the bibliography in English (References) sources are arranged in alphabetical order of the English alphabet. The author's surname and initials in English are indicated, then the title of the work (translated into English), then in square brackets the name of the work in transliteration. Then the name of the source is indicated in English (if the source does not have an official parallel name in English, the name of the source is indicated in transliteration). Next, you specify the place of publication, and for magazines issue number and page range of the article used.
5. Making figures, tables, formulas
5.1. Each figure (diagram, graph) should be presented as a separate file.
5.2. Accepted for publication are drawings that do not go beyond the printed area (i.e. fields). Illustrations with black fill are not allowed. Complex drawings are duplicated in separate files in the format .tiff,.tif or .jpg (resolution at least 300 dpi at the size the images are not at least 120x120 mm). Figure should be readable, legible, with a clear image, without spelling and punctuation errors in the text.
5.3. All charts, graphs must be created by Word or Excel. Schema elements must necessarily be grouped by Word (that is, they must not change when they are moved or formatted). Images saved from WORD to tiff or jpeg are not accepted.
5.4 Figures should be numbered, all axes on the graphs must be signed, units of measurement are specified. If there is one picture, it is not numbered. Intra-captions should be made in the same style-font as the main text, size 8. Signature legend that explains the symbols and abbreviations; numbers of curves are placed below the figure.
5.5 Simultaneous use of tables and graphs to present the same results is not allowed.
5.6 Tables and figures are numbered independently, i.e. table 1, figure 1.
5.7 Tables are placed in the text of the article.
5.8 Each table should be numbered. If there is one table in the article, it is not numbered. Tables should have a title. All columns in the tables should also have titles. Shortening of words is allowed only in accordance with the requirements of standards. Each numeric parameter of the table must have a unit of measurement, which is specified in the column header.
5.9 Formulas should be typed in the editor for mathematical formulas Math type. The numbering of formulas – to-end, by Arabic numerals in parentheses. The number is aligned to the right edge of the text border. Numbering is carried out outside the formula editor in the order of the formula in the text (through). Numbered formulas, which should be referred to in the text, are placed in a separate line and placed in the center of the text. Using Microsoft word Equations for a set of formulas is not allowed.
5.10 All figures, tables should have references to the source. If the table or drawing is developed by the author independently, then below it is specified:"it is Made by the author (or authors if there are several) on research materials". If the table or drawing is copied from another source (including numerical data), the source is specified.
5.11 In the text of the article it is necessary to refer to each illustrative material (diagram, figure, table).
6. Copyright
6.1. The authors are responsible for the information presented in the publication.
6.2. All articles are subject to mandatory testing for borrowing. The level of originality of the article should be at least 85 %. No more than 15% of self-citation is allowed.
7. Review
7.1. All articles submitted to the editorial office are subject to obligatory review procedure.
7.2. The review procedure is regulated in the review Rules.
8. Editorial policy of the journal prohibits:
8.1. Self-plagiarism. If the elements of a scientific article have been previously published, the author is obliged to refer to the previously published work. Verbatim copying of own works and their rephrasing is not allowed, they can be used only as a basis for new conclusions.
8.2. Verbatim copying of another person's work without attribution, reference to the source and the use of quotation marks.
8.3. Incorrect paraphrasing of the work of another person, in which more than one sentence was changed within one paragraph or section of the text, or the sentences were arranged in a different order without a corresponding reference to the source.
8.4. Use of parts of another person's work without attribution, such as a paragraph, figure or table, without reference to the source or the use of quotation marks.
