Family is the basic unit of society which plays a key role in the primary socialisation of an individual. It is in the family that a person learns norms and values that later determine his/her behaviour and interaction with other people. However, in the modern world, marriage and family values are undergoing significant changes which leads to the transformation of social interaction. This article analyses the factors influencing the formation of value orientations of modern youth in the sphere of family and marriage. The research studies trends in the development of family and marriage relations in the current Russian society, examines value orientations of young people and identifies factors that have the greatest impact on their establishment. The relevance of the article is conditioned by the need to understand the mechanisms of this establishment in today’s society. The results of the paper can be used and are helpful to develop recommendations on the formation of family values and strengthening the family institution, to develop educational programmes and courses in sociology, psychology, pedagogy, and other disciplines related to the study of family and family values. The institution of the family is the foundation of modern Russian society, a prerequisite for stability and well-being of the state. The article analyses the impact of state social policy on institutional trust of young family Russians on the basis of sociological research data in an innovative way. These results of the survey have showed that the formation of confidence of youth in the state and social well-being of young families need more significant systemic and comprehensive government support measures. The authors reasonably conclude that it is necessary to revise the principle of direct dependence “state support – trust of youth” in relation to this social category, since young married couples have their own particular matrix of values and relationships in the “I – family – state” triad. These factors dictate the need to adjust the package of social protection (support) measures for families with consideration to their real requests: strengthening the economic component (reduction of bureaucratic barriers, tax burden, support for small and medium-sized enterprises and firms that are led, as a rule, by representatives of young married couples); organising a network of centres for specialised psychological assistance to pregnant women and their husbands, then psychological and pedagogical accompaniment of parents; targeting information state policy (with an emphasis on the parental channel), as well as through programmes of educational shifts of youth camps (formation of knowledge among young generations of Russians even before marriage about the state policy of family protection (support), social trust and confidence in their well-being in the future). At the same time, the results of the study emphasise the need for a constant sociological analysis of the effectiveness of the public policy and social protection (support) as a measure of managerial influence on youth and young families – a mobile and ever-changing stratum of civil society.
The article is devoted to a sociological analysis of the opinions of family mediation specialists on the problems of spousal negotiability and domestic violence. The analysis is based on the results of two sociological surveys of representatives of the expert community who have participated in family mediation events (N = 416). The questionnaires have been filled in by participants of the round tables “Mediation and personal negotiability in a family conflict” (June 19, 2024) and “Mediation and family violence: balance of interests” (28 February, 2024), organised by the Centre for Mediation and Social and Legal Assistance of the Moscow “Sodeystvie” Centre. The authors have determined the relevant strategic vectors and practices of the social construction of a mediation solution for family disputes of spouses with children during the divorce. The study is based on the concepts of R. Fisher and W. Uri describing theoretical and applied aspects of mediation (the Harvard project) as well as on the provisions of the theory of social construction of reality by P.L. Berger and Th. Luckmann. The main methods of empirical research are questionnaire surveys of family mediation specialists, specialists of family centres, psychologists, teachers, psychiatrists, bailiffs, lawyers on this topic as well as methods of observation and analysis of the divorcing spouses’ behaviour who came to the first information meeting before mediation conducted by the authors of the article. As a result, specific features of family problems leading to the breakdown of family ties have been identified, including problems of family violence, parental alienation, and negotiability of spouses. In conclusion, important expert opinions have been obtained; in particular, the authors have established the need to develop an additional section in the opinion of the guardianship and custody agency aimed at identifying the signs of family violence and parental alienation (the document is sent to the court before the divorce of spouses with children). A new management approach for mediation resolution of family conflicts of spouses with children has been developed. Its purpose is to improve the systematic interdisciplinary work of specialists of mediation centres.
